I come from a long line of depression and anxiety. I have a fear of being in public or people harming me. Having a regular job gives me extreme anxiety, not being able to leave and go to my safe space is truly hard for me. I also have a fear of letting people down and I always put my work ahead of me. I started working with DoorDash two years ago and everything changed. I could make my own hours and if I needed to go home, I could. But I'm still able to pay my rent. I've now started doing Instacart, which helps immensely since they pay so well. I have never felt better in terms of depression and anxiety but if these things go away, especially with COVID-19, I will no longer be able to support myself or work.

I became a DoorDasher because my business closed from COVID-19 I am self-employed. Since I have been delivering food I also work for food jet I have found that my customers are unable to leave their homes from this pandemic either they're seniors or had a new baby can't leave the house or they don't have transportation whatever the reason I'm just glad I can help when I deliver they have a smile of gratefulness that I can do this for them It brings joy to me as well!!
I am doing justice by delivering orders for several hundreds of customers that do not want to risk their lives to contact Covid19. I also appreciate their time to give me the opportunity to serve them.
I am a Postmates delivery driver. This app has helped me out with earning money. During this pandemic, my hours were cut short so I thank Postmates for allowing me to continue to earn money to provide for my family.
Hi, I decided to do DoorDash when I lost income because of the COVID virus. But have found that I enjoy being able to help by delivering meals to people because of the stay at home orders. I see how beneficial this is to the elderly and those more vulnerable to maybe catching the virus. They are in need of this service very much and I would definitely love to continue to provide it. This service will always be in need of the elderly and those who can not go out for other reasons, such as the handicap, those without means of transportation, and more. They should always be able to get the help they need. DoorDash and other services alike should be able to continue to provide this. I for one really enjoy being able to drive for DoorDash and provide this help to my community. I will continue to drive for DoorDashh even after everything opens. I would love the opportunity to contribute and continue this job.
Hello my name is Destin and my job is being a In-Home Care provider for my father. He is 63 years old, We live in different locations he lives about 10 miles from me. I love giving my father the love/care he deserves but with how the current economy is I'm living from paycheck to paycheck. I personally am not a lazy person so instead of asking for financial assistance and waiting to get approved or denied I heard about DoorDash so I applied. I got approved! Now it was my first day on the job. Since I start work for my father at 9am I worked at DoorDash at 6:30am till 8:30am...When I got off of work at my father's at 5pm since DoorDash is so flexible I was able to work from 5:30pm till 9:00pm delivering the customers food quickly, safely and still hot with provided hot bag. Thanks to the flexibility of DoorDash I'm able to make ends meet. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Finding DoorDash was great for me, a stay at home mom of 2. I can hardly find a babysitter for more than a couple hours so the hours with DoorDash make it easy and flexible. I can start and stop whenever I want without any penalties. I have had migraines for 20 years so I've never been able to get a 9-5 type of job. DoorDash is perfect for people like me who have disabilities and obstacles preventing them from working regularly every day. It has helped me feel more independent and pay my bills without worry.

Doordash is a true blessing not just for myself but for those who are semi-dependent on it. I see all walks of life when I deliver. Some customers tip double because of how grateful they are, whether it be for dinner, a late-night snack, or picking up their groceries. I have received Thank You cards from elders who depend on this delivery service because they don't drive and their health isn't the best. It's very rewarding to help others! In addition, working this delivery service has really saved me especially during this pandemic. I went from dashing 4 times a month to every day and its how I help support my family! I hope after reading this you can see how beneficial delivery services are to everyone who uses the app!
Being able to do DoorDash has helped me a lot during this pandemic and to some people, it may not seem that important as a job but someone has to do it a lot of people don't have time to rush to get food or do grocery shopping, some people want to be safe and stay home. That's where DoorDash and other independent delivery drivers come in to risk their lives to get people what they need.
I started doing Lyft and DoorDash to help my community. In my small town, not many services are available for that and so I took it upon myself to start driving to get out and meet new people to get over my anxiety and shyness. These apps also provide me income when I have a hectic school and part-time work schedule and no other job has been able to work with or hire me because of it. No other place I can think of will allow me to better my community one delivery drive or Lyft at a time.
Rideshare & Delivery Driver
I had become homeless and without a job and had no source of income upon realizing I can drive for this delivery app and make money. I have been able to stabilize my living situation with only 34 deliveries. I still feel new to this delivery system but it works perfectly for me and helped me get through my everyday life.
I am providing rides to medical appointments and other obligations such as doctors, construction workers, food and groceries to seniors and other essential employees.
Before my mom passed away from cancer I took care of her all the way to the end of her 53 years of life...After she passed away I needed jobs to support my family, keep my house, and help pay my bills; that's when I applied for GrubHub and Instacart; in which I was able to successfully acquire both jobs. After I started working on my schedule I was able to afford my house, my bills, and help a lot of people in the process like elderly people who could not go out and Grocery shop..."
DoorDash, Postmates, Instacart
My name is James R. and I am 70 years old and suffer from a spinal cord injury that makes it impossible to do many other jobs, but I can drive and be with people. 10,000 passengers have blessed my day in the past 2 years, and I work from about 8 am when my grandson gets on the bus for school until about 1 pm when I get him off the bus from school. I need the income driving gives me because Social Security is not enough to pay my family's bills. I need flexibility in order to survive in today's economy. Please do not limit my ability to provide for my family.
Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart
I am a single parent to a wonderful pre-teen. I am also in school during the day so being able to drive on my time works for me. I can go to school during the day, attend my daughter’s activities after she gets out of school. Then in the evenings, I can drive for a couple of hours and on the weekend take my daughter to her grandmother, and drive most of the day. Me being an independent contractor is the best thing that could have happened.
I was deemed 100% working disabled through the VA due to service connected issues. Without the gig economy, I would be forced to draw further assistance from state funded programs for the disabled. Being a veteran of foreign wars and a believer in what it means to be a citizen, I want to do anything to avoid that. Lyft and Uber primarily allow me to interact and communicate with people daily, talking about life, lending a friendly ear and listening to problems they may be having. These apps have allowed me to follow my passion, and I'm good at it. Anything I can do to help, I'm in.
I have two kids at the age of 12 and 13 which require me to join their games and give them rides whenever they need it. I also have both of my parents living with me, I need to be available when they need me around or when they have a doctor's appointment. I don't have any other jobs, I drive with Lyft and Uber whenever I have the chance to do so.
I work part-time for Lyft and also study. I have been able to manage my studying time and working time very well, while making decent money. (Better than working non-app jobs)
Hello my name is Kathy, I am sharing my story because it's important for everyone to know how important it is that is drivers are able to have flexible hours. I am married and have a son that's still at home. My husband is unable to work because he has had 20 surgeries in the last 5 years. I am his main caretaker so I can only drive when I have someone that's able to be at home. I also have my own health issue, that limits me from working a full-time job. That's why it's so important to me to have flexibility in my driving schedule. I'm trying to provide for my family, if we are made to have a daily schedule, I will have to quit driving for Lyft. Thank you, Kathleen Winans
I shop for Instacart, I do work a full-time job as well which life is going by so fast, my plan was to retire and work Instacart for flexibility to spend time with my Grand-Children and make a little money on the side,I love shopping and meeting people what a rewarding experience.
My name is Matthew, I am a disabled veteran. I have a lot of doctor appointments that I need to attend for my healthcare. Also, I’m going back to school soon. Between a school schedule and my doctor's appointments. Working as an Independent Contractor is perfect for me. And probably the only work I can still do. Can’t say I know very many employers who would hire me with all my appointments. Let alone a school schedule. My entire family is here and I don’t wanna leave because of this.
